I would note he did not “come out two weeks before the election to crucify her”.

He sent a classified TOP Secret memo to house, and Devin Nunes leaked it, despite it being classified information.

We can argue Comey “should have known” Nunes would leak, but that’s a different argument.

EDIT: correction it was Chaffetz who leaked it.
