14. this whole "NATO countries are not paying their fair share" canard is weird

as I understand it, countries in NATO agree to spend X% of their GDP on their military. What Trump is complaining about here is that Germany, etc., may not be spending enough on their military, but of course the US spends way more than that.

so, the total amount of $ spent by NATO countries is still probably more than is what is mandated (because of the massive US military budget), which is why other NATO countries probably feel like they can spend less.

The obvious solution to this "problem" is for the US to spend way way less on its military. It's a win-win! It would force our allies to consider spending more, and it would give us enough money to possibly take care of people. For fuck's sake.
