If he leaves early and Pence replaces him, then he gets pardoned like Nixon was. After he's out of office, then the prosecutors do not have to hold back on indicting him.

I do think impeachment and removal from office is the appropriate thing to happen to him. I just don't believe the Senate GOP will vote to convict. They've proven they are too afraid of his cult. I don't really think that's going to change with the evidence Mueller has. His cult, and more, felt it was perfectly fine for him to not pay taxes. They thought it made him a great business man because he figured out how to dodge the IRS. So their anger will not be roused by financial crimes. They've already started thanking Putin for getting him elected. So they're not going to be angry about the obvious conspiracy to get him elected.

A very large part of America will say "yep, he cheated and broke the law - so what?" Seriously, they won't care. They hate Hillary and the idea of her being President THAT much.
