(8,698 posts)That is hair-splitting. You are definitely smart enough to know it.
The very first event they took freshman members to was a luncheon sponsored by a small group of corporations. They cant contribute directly but they can contribute to PACs and SuperPACs and individuals from those corporations can contribute.
To be fair I like AOC but I am still forming an opinion. I think she deserves that. She did come in a little rough and tumble but she smoothed it out a little as she went. She has supported Pelosi from the beginning. Her goals are good and to be fair her proposals are not new to her or anybody else.
I think her pointing on a corporate-sponsored luncheon they were required to attend is what seemed to start all this. You can coach it however you want but there is little other way to interpret what that luncheon was meant to accomplish. It was clearly meant to give exclusive, behind closed doors, access to certain large corporate donors to incoming members of Congress.
Speaking for myself, Id like to see a lot less (none) of that and a lot more discussion on 70% marginal tax rates and healthcare and student loan debt relief.
