Oh hell, all my immediate neighbors speak Spanish, next door, out back, across the street.

Holy Cow... my next door neighbor's kids are trilingual. What dark magic is this?

Our community is nothing like the 99% affluent white U.S.A. neighborhoods I grew up in.

My white wild west grandpa warned me this would happen. He was so upset I was marrying, in his words, "a Mexican girl" that he didn't come to our wedding. Men in his family only married white girls. Didn't matter that my wife was born in the U.S.A., as were her parents.

To his credit, my grandpa got over it. Trump's White America needs to get over it too.

The U.S.A. ought to be a place where the best of all cultures is celebrated, and the worst is discarded.

The racism and intellectually crippling English monolingualism of my own white culture ought to have been discarded a long time ago.
