The message has to be -- citizens in those countries enjoy a higher standard of health care for less cost in in premiums because they are willing to pay the government a lower premium via taxes versus USA paying higher premiums to private for-profit health care.
Most of these items on the list fall into that category -- not only do you get better service, but it's cheaper. Americans just need to wake up and see taxes aren't a bad thing, taxes can provide a high standard of service for many things that private companies could never compete with.
I support many of these things because I am a financial conservative -- it's cheaper for me, and cheaper for society as a whole. I'd much rather have extra $$ left over to spend on other things.
