I did not understand it until I started playing it in college.
One change that I would like to see is a holding or tripping penalty be accessed when a defender holds an attacker that is about to break away from him or her within a certain distance of the defender's goal. For a hold inside the penalty box, it would be a penalty shot, I believe now the defender has to take the attacker down inside the box for a penalty shot to be awarded. For a hold or trip of a breaking away attacker outside the box in the defender's side of the field, the fouled team should get a corner kick.
I think assessing holding and tripping penalties will produce more goals and make watching game more exciting when skilled dribblers are playing.
