Money, Power, and Fame - You Can Do Anything - Grab 'Em By The ..... [View all]

In most cases, even if you are engaging in sexual contact with underage victims, you can get away with it. Even if you are found out, often your money, power, and fame will keep you from being punished like ordinary people are. At least for a long time, and often forever.

Witness Jeffrey Epstein, who is in the news now for his sexual abuse of vulnerable young girls. He's in trouble now, but operated on the principle that he would never be punished.

Roman Polanski is another name associated with the same criminal behavior. He can't come back to the USA, but he's doing alright in Europe, by all accounts.

We remember others who have been accused, too.

However, there are many, many people who have done similar things, but whose names are not a matter of public shame. Some have been accused, but have managed to buy their way out of trouble, paying off victims and hiring attorneys who get signatures on non-disclosure agreements.

We don't know about everyone who has sexually abused young boys and girls, and never will. When victims come forward, they are accused of lying and many people believe the wealthy, powerful, or famous people over some "kid." It's just "she said, he said," people will say of political, business, and entertainment leaders who are accused.

Or, even religious leaders, who also are able to groom young girls and boys for such abuse. "Oh, Father Jeremy would never do anything like that..." And then, Father Jeremy is quietly moved to another parish to seek new victims and the church covers it all up, protected by their "holiness."

Right now, we're watching one such person for whom time has caught up on his crimes. We're seeing the Roman Catholic Church all over the world finally being called to account. It's too late, though, for the victims. And the rich, famous, and powerful are still doing the same things almost everywhere. How many are basking in their impunity and secrecy, without us knowing anything about it? How many new victims will their be of predatory people who enjoy the protection of their money, fame, and power?
