(43,161 posts)but that breaks down into common good vs despots and their agents
Despots and private interests seek authoritarian rule to enact their greed
Greed is almost always at the head of authoritarian agendas
They seek order, and usually but not always, law to further their ends.
Greed is realized through power and control. Order and exploitation follow.
Freedom and democracy is alien to these agendas, dangerous in fact.
So yes, it may seem the world is beset by a general unnamed force, but really
it's the same thing that has defined political struggles since 1776.
The American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Revolutions of 1848, European conflicts of
the same origin through 1914 (Italy, Franco-Prussian), the Russian Revolution (who thought they
had a different solution), the World Wars, The Cold War, Middle Eastern conflicts. It's all the same.
Even terror groups are on their own lawless agendas driven by greed and power.
It's all about power and control, despots vs freedom. Maybe freedom was an illusion brought on by
a new continent to spread its wings? Can there be freedom in a densely populated society? We must
have some law and order. With so many warring factions, and States, how can conflict be resolved?
United Nations. But, has Trump ever heard of it?
