I live in a very red state and see huge displays by MGATs along the side of the road every time I drive anywhere, not to mention Trump 2020 signs on houses, in yards, and on cars. Sometimes the deplorable bumper stickers are the only things holding the cars together. I swear, my blood pressure goes up every time I pass a truck with an American flag on one side of the bed and the traitor flag on the other, with a window sticker saying, "It's not hate, it's heritage. Learn your history." 
These people are are HUGE church-goers. I was brought up in the church and have left it, largely because of this bullshit. My husband's relatives, who are holier-than-the-rest-of-us, tell him that it's about the abortion issue. They'd vote for Satan himself (and it seems that they may have already done that) if he promised to stack the courts to make sure abortion is outlawed. Nothing else matters to them. Not surprisingly, they're eerily silent about the abuses this country heaps onto already-born children in our own and other countries.
It just makes me want to cry. 
I feel so bad for young people and those with young families.
