When it came to the US presidential election in 2016, surely Vladimir Putin had a wish list as to who would make the perfect POTUS. It would be the man/woman who would destroy American democracy by doing the following:
Undermine citizens trust in our institutions, e.g. CIA, FBI, the judicial system, and attack the credibility of dedicated career civil servants.
Undermine citizens trust in legitimate journalism, while encouraging them to accept fake news from propaganda outlets.
Promote division among the citizenry by establishing a them v us narrative.
Pit citizens one against the other on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, country of origin.
Instill fear by insisting that immigrants are violent criminals who are 'invading' the country.
Encourage violence at rallies and other public events.
Confuse the citizenry by continually lying about everything, thus causing a constant blurring of the truth.
Tear down the reputations of those the nation reveres as heroes, e.g. John McCain.
Keep citizens from knowing the content of discussions with other world leaders, especially with Putin himself.
Appoint inept, inexperienced people to positions of power and influence, thereby ensuring the deterioration of the departments/agencies they oversee.
Distance the US from its traditional allies, while praising murderous despots, e.g. Putin, Kim Jung-Un, Mohamed Bin Salman.
Overturn laws that protect our countrys environment and natural resources, and refuse to accept scientifically-proven facts like climate change.
Rely on inept, inexperienced, yes-men advisors instead of knowledgable professionals.
Abandon the Kurds, damaging our nations credibility as a trustworthy ally that keeps its word.
Promote the idea that Putin had no hand in attacking the 2016 election, and therefore sanctions against Russia should be lifted.
Attempt to have Russia re-admitted to the G-7.
Insist that the US military is a hundred percent behind you, and will use their might against the citizenry if ordered to do so.
Refuse to obey our nations laws, and flaunt the refusal to follow established precedents.
Promote Russian propaganda and debunked conspiracy theories.
Dismiss proven facts as politically-motivated spin, and legitimate investigations as hoaxes.
Fire or demand resignations from people who pose a threat to any of the above.
I would like to hear any Republican point out a single thing on Putins wish-list that Trump has not fulfilled.
