25. You don't need to try very hard

Don always mentions "with The Freedom Toast" when it's something we did together. He has a very distinctive vocal style, so if it's one I just did the lyrics to and he did the music (e.g. Mar-a-Lagoville, Act Naturally, when Johnny Comes Rolling Home, Wall Street /Please give), you'll hear it. TFT on the other hand has a group of people with varied singing styles, some with great mimic abilities, so "Strangers on the Right," "In D.C." and "Dumb Down" come rather close to sounding like Sinatra, George Benson and Petula Clark. Our pianist is also a brilliant arranger. Being in Europe, I only get to participate in the Atlanta recording sessions once in a blue moon (Talking TSA Blues was the last one where I actually had a large active role). The engineer liked "Washington, D.C." so much that he asked to do the vocal, which he did. Don's animation and lip-synching was brilliant as well.

I already have two songs recorded that Don hasn't done yet. If he passes, they may yet fade into obscurity, unless you know someone who wants to post just an audio. They aren't yet posted anywhere.
