Both parties preach energy independence, yet Obama and the Democrats didn't pass the Keystone Pipeline that would have added jobs and produced more oil on our soil.
What gives?

That pipeline was to move oil to the gulf to ship overseas from Canada. n/t

Right now Canadian Oil goes to US refineries. The pipeline would let us export it.
