6. Back in the 80s, you could buy a state's listing of doctors showing malpractice, deviancy, etc.

.

I bought a listing for NJ doctors, showing all complaints and charges against them and what their resolution was.

I tell you, you would not believe how many had major verified malpractice and sexual deviancy charges, including sexual assaults under anesthesia, pedophilia, etc. There were reports of deaths and life-long disabilities brought on by malpractice.

Well, I was looking through it and a few doctors in my town had quite a few issues. One pediatric doctor had multiple out-of-state pedo complaints against him and he moved from state to state to open anew.

Well, it turned out that this reporting service was eventually closed, because the medical board(s) and I can't remember if it was one major one or a combination of state ones, got together and prevented those records from being released to the public. While this company had past records, over the years, that data became more and more obsolete.

What happened was that those complaints would be handled internally by the board/association, who would determine whether a license is pulled or not. Consumers were no longer allowed to easily obtain this information.
