(102,237 posts)that are effective against Enteric Canine Coronavirus (CCoV) a common cause of diarrheal illness in young puppies, though they do not protect against the respiratory virus Respiratory Canine Coronavirus (CRCoV), The latter was discovered in dogs in England in 2003, usually causing mild respiratory disease,is genetically related to human cold coronaviruses (not COVID-19) and to the bovine coronavirus that causes both respiratory and enteric disease in cattle and other ruminants ((BCoVs), for which there is a vaccine to control the enteric effects, but not the respiratory variant. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4094360/
Cats get a coronavirus that causes FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), again NOT transmissible to other animals for which there is a vaccine that confers some protection in settings with wide spread, but is not considered adequate for use in lower risk settings.
There has long been a swine coronavirus vaccine (enteric) and those against the respiratory coronavirus (for which there are multiple coronavirus variants) in poultry as discussed below and here:

Bottom line, there are LOTS of coronaviruses and SOME effective vaccines generally for those that cause more enteric illness. Not all coronaviruses cause potentially lethal illness in their hosts, but can serve as good models for vaccine development. But the challenge is signficant and far from a "sure thing." Not to mention that there is a significant risk for what we have seen in the disastrous attempts at a Dengue vaccine, for which there are four distinct serotypes and immunity from infection with one does not prevent later infection with another. That vaccine incorporated components of all four serotypes and induced what is known as antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), in which the immune response to the first virus amplifies the effect of the second type in an overwhelming and potentially lethal manner.
That said, PLEASE correct your subject line. Vaccines are designed to PREVENT disease by inciting the body's immune system. They are not designed to be "TREATMENTS." This is a serious misunderstanding among the public made worse by Trummp's constant BS.
