The Republican Party has been the party of selfishness for decades, at least since Reagan/Thatcher neoliberalism. Trump is the logical result of that downward spiral. It has become so bad that it is now costing thousands of American lives. There apparently is no bottom.

I'll skip the story about how much I have come to dislike crowds in that environment even before the pandemic.
