It has nothing to do with guaranteeing that the laws will be constitutional. Every decision is foreordained by which party enjoys the majority. It will become even more radical with major decisions based on the member's religious beliefs or their party's dependence on the support of the Christian fundamentalist radicals for their political survival. They will not give a damn that their decisions will absolutely contradict the Founding Fathers determination to not allow the establish a theocracy or religious test for citizenship. They were well acquainted with flagrant abuses that religious zealots, such as the proposed new justice Amy Barrett, can wreck on society.

The destruction that the Republican Party has visited on our nation is so deep and comprehensive in scope that it is difficult to comprehend the damages. The Republicans have become solely dependent on the support of the religious radicals who are determined to impose their will on the people that their defeat is assured if they would dare to object. They have become little more than idiotic puppets with out a shred of credibility. I say good luck to those who come after me. At least at my advanced age I was able to enjoy a nation, that regardless of its shortcomings, was striving to become what the founders dared to envision. A nation dedicated to the principles that every human being is endowed with inalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and that no one, regardless of birth or standing was above the law.
