In Northern VA, in my county it starts off at the county offices, then in mid-Oct satellite voting sites will open up.

When I went to vote a week after early voting opened up, I walked straight in, showed my ID, verified they had the right person (me), picked up a pen and ballot, filled it in, fed it into the scanner. Less than 10 minutes, much of which was filling in the boxes.

But Fairfax County had long lines at the county complex on opening day.
