There's still much uncertainty about where the Spanish Flu originated, except that it wasn't Spain who had a good, free press and were the first to report in detail about the flu. Kind of a shame they were stuck with the naming rights.

Some reports track it to Kansas in 1917 but that also means nothing. An irrefutable fact is that once it started spreading among soldier in Europe, it was carried back to every corner of the globe as they slowly returned home.

He must have been young - my grandparents were all born around the turn of the century. Such a waste of good, young lives.
