I went back to school at 28. My sister went back to school at 53. And she'd already had a successful career... she just wanted to go from something good to something better. In your case, if you're not happy with having not gone to school, you're looking at 35+ years of regret if you don't do it. It's not necessary for everyone--plenty of people are happy and successful without it--but it sounds like it's what you want to do, deep down.
Please do consider going back to school if it's what you want. It genuinely is not too late. NOT AT ALL.
