Then inspectors and the general contractor will have to determine what wasn't completed from the original drawings. They can then be paid for the work done so far and then the contract can be terminated. It is difficult to determine exactly what work is still outstanding so this process can take months or years.

We designed a project for the State DOT and the contractor screwed up so much they went bankrupt. We've spent months determining what still needs completed so a new contractor can be hired.
