It took a bunch of sensible, popular, ideas, and gave them a name that would cause the great majority of people to recoil.

And then we had a bunch of people saying, "defund really means reform", and another bunch of people saying, "defund means defund".

If we had let Republicans choose the description, they couldn't have come up with one that was more harmful to Democrats.
