(65,021 posts)None of the tests used for employment screening or random testing have the detectability advertised.
The "one week, spit; one month, urine: 9 months, hair" stuff is drug war nonsense. It was part of the "Reefer Madness" scare tactics.
There are analytical methods that can do that, but they're very costly.
The simpler tests, spectrometric, FID gas chromatography, HPLC, are more affordable but have mediocre levels of detection. So, at very low levels of the analyte, true quantization is poor.
For an airline pilot, or train driver, or crane operator, the use of more accurate, more detailed, but expensive, broad spectrum testing may be appropriate.
But, 99% of us would not have the job requirements calling for the costs involved.
Basically, we can divide the amount of time claimed by 3.
When we were doing the spit test on random tests for 2% of everyone in the company (US sites) each month, I got called 2 days after I smoked. I tested negative.
I've worked in labs with the more sophisticated methods, and it's expensive because not only is the hardware pricey, but the operation has to be done by an expert.
Not sure how you showed any detectable level after a month. I truly think it's more likely they lied to you about detecting anything.
