In reply to the discussion: Matt Gaetz facing 'wave of indictments' in sex trafficking case: legal expert [View all]Scrivener7
(50,955 posts)39. It makes me friggin' nuts.
Partly because it gives hope to the hopeful. And for those of us who want to see justice, it shuts us up just a little longer.
Just long enough for the next "legal expert" to make his pronouncement. Rinse and repeat till we are far enough from the event that we almost forget its importance. And then they can make it disappear from our attention and the investigation or the case can quietly go away.
I see the investigation into the Post Office theft by tfg has hit an inflection point and the case will now likely disappear:

The settlement allows for Mazars to exercise its independent judgment in determining which documents are responsive to the committees subpoena.
So after 2 years of "negotiation" in which tfg was DEFINITELY going to get his face handed to him, the agreement has been reached in which tfg's accomplices in the theft are the ones who will decide which documents investigators will be allowed to see.
Reminds me of Acosta "negotiating" Epstein's conviction for one count of solicitation in response to Epstein's rapes of dozens of children.
I will believe Matt Gaetz will face any charges when I see him JAILED for trafficking minors. Convicted. In jail. Not before. Because the law does NOT apply equally to everyone.

This "fundamentally deeply flawed" process is ripe for gaming, just as it is being gamed.

I am SO tired of imminent indictment of Republican politicians but no actual charges.
