but they assumed the assault would be tempered with the UN demanding Israel show restraint, insisting Israel "follow the rules of war"...and Hamas also assumed Israel would bend to global distrust of Israel/overt antisemitism..Hamas assumed wrong..Israel politely told the UN to get fucked and went on the attack..
Contrary to Hamas PR hostage bullshit, Israel knew Hamas was killing hostages and few if any would return to their families...which, I suspect is why Israel upped the ante and went deeper into Gaza, targeting Gazans hiding Hamas terrorists, storing their weapons, acting as human shields...you know "innocent" Palestinians...
Hamas wanted a war but not this war..be careful what you wish for......PS..Bibi has got to go!!
