Catholics are Christians [View all]

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by sarisataka (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Lately I've been heard several politician or commentators speaks of "Christians and Catholics". Jim Vandehei did it again on Morning Joe when he was grouping people who are Trumpers; "even Christians and Catholics".

Catholics are Christians just as much as Baptists, Methodists, Congregationalists, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians and many other Christian religions. In fact, many of those religions were spin offs of the Catholic religion. So why do I never hear "Christians and Baptists" or "Christians and Protestants"?

Why Is the Catholic religion separated from the other Christian grouping?

As a Catholic I just don't understand the need to separate Catholics from Christians. Am I missing something?
