There has not been a white male Secretary of State in 15 years. These Republicans have voted for Powell, Condoleeza Rice, and some of them voted to confirm Clinton as well (maybe Albright too...not sure).

I think they might want Kerry to get the job, but it's because they want Scott Brown to be able to run for his Senate seat, not because they object to the post being filled by a black female or prefer a white male for the job.
