(264 posts)I'm feeling the same disappointment as you, Calimary. Jamie Raskin is from my state and I have such deep respect and affection for him. He is a man of deep reflection and compassion. Angry as I am with all those who are calling for Biden to step down, I simply cannot believe that they are deliberately seeking to harm our party or destroy our campaign to maintain control of the White House. This is so very painful for us all. We love Joe. We love his lifelong dedication to our country and her people. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude. We believe he can win in 2024. Right now, we are all afraid. We know how dire the 2024 election will be. I intend to stand by our voters' choice. In time, I'm certain the way forward will be made clear. Perhaps, what we need to remember as we try to control our emotions and calm troubled minds and hearts, is that we are devoted to democracy and to the ideals which are foundational to the dreams and sacrifices that shaped the creation of the U.S. Our commitment is far greater than our dedication to any one man. Whatever the outcome, nothing will ever diminish the esteem and appreciation which we feel for President Biden. Let us not discourage or castigate one another. Remember our values and our principles and unite in whatever manner in which we may be called upon to preserve and protect what each of us holds so dear. I am hopeful that Biden will choose to remain as our candidate. If he does not, every bit of anger and resentment I currently feel will be channeled into keeping Trump and his criminal cohort from getting their grubby hands on the levers of power and governance. We can settle the accounts of our differences with leaders of our own party once we win in November.
