In reply to the discussion: Why America Is Severely Broken [View all]Dark n Stormy Knight
(9,776 posts)21. I don't disagree with your points about labor unions and organizing,
but neither your initial post to the OP, nor your initial post to me, clearly expressed any of them. So often on DU those who are most informed on an issue manage to put off others rather then help them understand an issue further, so maybe "activists" don't know how to educate people.
I was, by the way not aware of anti-Walmart activists using "frowning and staring" at customers as a technique. I was talking about their engagement with Walmart officials. I was talking about their organizing efforts.
A really good history class would have taught that, but perhaps it was only offered at 8:00 am. That would explain what I read above.
WTF? 8am? What are you talking about. And the "that" you refer to, "The ONLY time tyrants have ever been stopped is when enough people either stopped supporting them or stopped them in more permanent ways." Again, WTF? Are you suggesting that I've said that people don't need to stop them? I said the Waltons are the top greedy bastards fucking people over in this particular situation and that noting that is a fist step in addressing this particular situation.
The post above seems to infer that people are weak. Why would it say they don't have the resources? Is it to infer people are stupid, without brains?
There are many posts above. If you're referring to my post, just say so. In my post I was referring to financial resources and the support they can buy--lawyers, lawmakers, pro-Walmart propaganda, people to keep them informed of everything that affects their interests, etc. Why are you accusing me of saying people are stupid? Again, way to use the techniques you decry. I could hear you better if you'd stop "frowning and staring" at me.
NO GREEDY BASTARD HAS THE MOTIVATION TO STOP AS LONG AS PEOPLE ARE BRINGING THEM MONEY.
So, now you're blaming the, in your words, " the shopper[s] in communit[ies] where 50% of the families qualify for free or reduced price lunches because they live at the federal poverty level for income?, who shop at Walmart because that's where they can afford to shop because they wealth of our nation had been redistributed to the top tiny percent?
But you're not the first to make those mistakes in battle. Then again, it's a lot safer to rail against Walmart than teach people.
Nice, you end by, again, using the technique you call a failing one. You don't know anything about what teaching I personally may or may not have done regarding labor unions and organizing in general, yet you continue attacking me. Not helpful, to say the least.
Now this would have been a better way to say it: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021932578
