Politics is about facilitating conflict resolution between opposing entities, such that market places are secure and the velocity of energy & capital are maximized. Despite whatever your approach is at maximizing production and goods distribution, it is production itself--under any flag--that is killing the planet. Any and all those labels equally endorse the civilized paradigm of infinite cultivation and growth, and thereby, the destruction of the environment.
The pedantic political debates of the 20th Century are all but solved and are growing increasing irrelevant as our ecosystem deteriorates.

Actually, outside the United States, "liberal" typically means right wing. FDR changed it all.
