I Do Not Like Broccoli [View all]

I have a group of friends from college. Most, if not all of them, voted for Kamala.

One of them, who I have my doubts over who they voted for, sent out a text saying some reasons why he felt Kamala lost. He had been bad mouthing Biden over a year ago, and he also didn't seem too positive about Kamala at the time. When Biden stepped aside, it seemed like perhaps he had moderated, but I was still skeptical, and now he's making comments that lead me to believe that even if he voted for her, it was not a full throated level of support.

I'll point out that he's gay, and that his husband is an extreme, full blown MAGA. I mentioned the "first they came for the, etc., etc., etc.," ending with "Gays," story, but of course, he didn't believe that T was going to come after the gay community. He then went into a rant about Trans people, and how they were coming to public schools to read books to kids, and I was done continuing that line of topic.

A couple of other people in the group, who I have much more certain that they voted for Kamala, started to give their opinions on her flaws, and why she lost. I was really growing quite discouraged.

But back to the Broccoli. Did I mention how much I dislike it? Obviously it's good for you, and some people love it. I do not. In trying to waste my effort trying to explain to these people picking Kamala apart, I proceeded with my Broccoli comparison.

I don't like broccoli. If it's on my plate, I won't eat it. Now, if someone puts a plate of broccoli in front of me, and says I HAVE to eat it, whether I want to or not, but if I don't, I can choose to eat this plate piled high with Dog Shit, I will start shoving that broccoli in my mouth. I won't complain, I won't say that it's gross, because I know that if I did, it might be pulled away from me, and I'd have to eat the Dog Shit.

So for all of those who choose to say that Kamala had this flaw or that flaw. Who say she wasn't strong enough on Gaza. Or didn't do enough on immigration. Or wasn't able to control the price of eggs. Well, now you get to spend the next 4 years EATING NOTHING BUT DOG SHIT. In fact, WE ALL FUCKING DO, thanks to your IGNORANCE. So FUCK ALL OF YOU who made this decision for the rest of us.
