"We struggle under a system that does not care for us, it should not carry the audacity to demand care in return." [View all]
If our systems weren't so tied to privilege and wealth as sources of power, perhaps we wouldn't be so "business as usual" after a major healthcare CEO is killed. People aren't heartlessthey lacked the care and access these CEOs had, watching loved ones suffer and die from preventable conditions.
And even in his death, media finds a way to make this solely about his murder and not the millions of lives harmed and/or lost due to our insurance systems profiting from our being the sickest we can be, and cutting corners and costs when it comes to our care.
I don't applaud death, but I take extreme care and prioritization in noting why we are here, in this exact moment, with a healthcare company whose lost its literal head and will post that job opening way before the funeral even takes place, because even they know the dollar is more worthy.
We struggle under a system that does not care for us, it should not carry the audacity to demand care in return.
