Am I the alone in that I have never considered the concept of home defense in any personal way? [View all]

I've been hearing a lot about home defense today. I guess I've taken to locking my door in my advancing age, but never considered the idea that I would need to keep guns to shoot down intruders in my bunker of a home. Am I naive and America is crawling with would-be burglars, rapists, and murders, or is shit getting just a little weird and paranoid around here?
