The root of the problem isn't the rich and it's not the poor, it's the ideological mindset that it's acceptable to make life easier on the rich and they'll work harder in this economy while make life harder on the poor and thinking they'll also work harder in this economy. Sure, a lot of this thinking can be seen in the Tea Party, but it can be seen in other places as well, and liberals and progressives could be the first group that sees this thinking in the Tea Party, in the media, in the government, and more; and step up and oppose it.
And you are bang on - the number of liberal/progressive friends that post those atrocious "Must be nice to have your nails done and a coach purse" on Facebook.
One posted that on some 'TEA' photo/page and I dressed everyone who liked it or posted to it down. I told them we must be different in NJ. I'd assume they were someone who go donations from me post Hurricane Sandy - i.e. she's wearing the Brooks Brothers head to toe in a size 4 and carrying a coach purse because that's ALL I had to donate.
Oh - heaven forbid someone who 'can afford' gives something to someone who cannot afford the basics - like clothing - items that are of a stellar quality and will last. I'm so sick and tired of the culture of spitting on the have nots.
Enough.
