I've never understood why people have this bizarre idea that housework is a "woman's" work. My father made sure that I knew how to polish the brass, keep the kitchen spotless, how to cook, sort the laundry, fix the wiring, clean the fire grate, keep the shoes polished, mow the lawn, change a tire, change the oil, check the radiators for leaks...
I met several men later in life who seemed to have been looked after all their lives by women with nothing asked of them. They were kind of useless.
