(50,955 posts)101. So at what age do you think a child is unequivocally NOT capable of consent in sexual relationships?

I can't imagine you think that a 7-year-old is capable, or a 10-year-old.
Presumably there is some age in which "circumstance" does not enter the equation of whether a child is able to provide consent, and at that age it is unquestionably molestation. So if not at 14, where would you put it?

"Nowhere is it 14." False. At least 3 states have the age of consent pegged at 14.

We have sex urges long before our bodies or mind are ready for it. The young are easily manipulated.

We have age of consent laws set at 18 the same reason we have the speed limit at, say, 55

What no one here seems to be addressing is the fact that the age of adulthood used to be 21, period.

But, in authoritarian crazy world it's perfectly OK to prosecute an 11 year old as an adult.
