(36,463 posts)46. When I was a grocery checker, I sold beer to a young man one day without checking his ID.
As soon as he left the checkout stand, an undercover cop flashed his badge & asked to see his ID. There was just one cop, he had appropriate ID & he didn't pull a gun or anything dramatic. He did give me a knowing look however, & let me tell you, I was sweating it, hoping the guy was at least 18. He was & after that I carded everyone who didn't look at least 40.
The incident in the OP should have ended that night, with a profuse apology to the girl & her friends. This is nothing but a group of authoritarians gone amok, unwilling to admit they made a mistake.
