you've missed the point here. That being that the TPs have insisted on this retirement set up and I do mean set up to force the USPS to fail specifically in order to make it such a burden that privatization would be the only practical - in their pea brainz - answer. They were bought by corporate fascists to legislate everything that belongs in the public trust into private hands so that the people end up with no power over their own lives. And bit by bit, that is what they are systematically trying to do, it's why they get so many perks and so much electoral funding... thanks to the first victory in this freak show - the citizens united case.
Raising the price of postage will only discourage people from using their services. i live in a very rural place and the USPS is our main outlet for many things, and we don't even have delivery services, everyone here has a PO Box. I use USPS services for things I might use FedEx or UPS for but I us the USPS on purpose including buying money orders for paying bills, even to my credit union, and then mail them 1st class on purpose. You know it costs the same postage to send a letter whether it goes across the continent or across the street.
The best thing to do is get the TP out of our government before they destroy our country... and right now they have a good head start on that.
