I'm a cat person, temporarily cat-less. A few years ago I had three cats, and they all went to that great litterbox in the sky. For now, I will live without cats, but in a few years I will have them again.
All of my cats have been wonderful. They were all rescues, or showed up at my doorstep. And even though I'm a cat not a dog person, this next applies to both. How can any human being ever abandon an animal that depends so much on us for their life? I cannot comprehend it. They are part of what makes life worth living. When we took in dogs and cats, we made a promise that we would do well by them. That's a sacred promise that needs to be kept.
