(4,407 posts)You left that wide open for interpretation. This leaves anyone to fill in the blanks - in fact, for those who answered unequivocally "yes," one could argue that they've signed onto a lot more than perhaps they intended. From your posts, you appear to support Obama a lot, so it's reasonable to make the assumption that when you ask whether someone "supports Obama," you mean for support to be closer to unconditional than what I would agree to.
My feeling is this: no one deserves unconditional support. It's too close to faith, and faith has been used to keep people in line for thousands of years, when they really should get out of line and object to stuff. The same goes for Obama. This whole TPP thing is seriously messed up, and nobody should put themselves in the position of being required to "support Obama" when what he's doing is against their self-interests, or against the interests of the whole country (or 99% of it). In a democracy where, in theory, we are self-governing, it's imperative that people don't give their unconditional support to anyone or any group. To do so is to abandon your responsibility as a citizen to make decisions that are right for you or the nation.
Unfortunately, too many people do exactly that.
