(64,449 posts)It's a particular mix of good folks and idiots coming together at the abutting lines of north Tampa in Hillsborough County and Lutz in Pasco County. In Tampa, it's a mash-up of commercial establishments and strip malls, new and used car lots, grocery stores and bars in Tampa along Nebraska and Florida Avenue heading north (west and northwest of USF). They suddenly merge together just north of a (rather nice) Publix where it starts to be a bit more laid back and open.
You can probably imagine where things all go wrong. Wait, you don't have to. There's video.
As for the left lane thing, I'm a huge proponent of the "left lane is the passing/fast lane" when it comes to an interstate. Not on these roads. Tampa has a great number of roads just like this: Dale Mabry, Hillsborough, Fowler, Busch, Kennedy (just to name a scattered few). They all have middle lanes or middle medians for turning on the left. None of this should be foreign to anyone who drives in the area. That said, road rage is an almost common, daily emotion experienced by many drivers at any time. It is truly a horrible place to be a conscious person piloting a motor vehicle.
Just extrapolating from a local view, affirming that you are indeed correct in your statements.
