(33,224 posts)I always pull to the adjacent lane when someone indicates they want to go faster than the rest of traffic, no matter how much of an asshole they are. It solves my immediate problem, but the guy in the truck then just zooms up to the next car to rage impotently at them.
Road rage isn't really rage at anyone in particular; it's entitlement, narcissism and douchebaggery in general.
Nothing that I do, not impeding them, nor pulling over in deference to their $ocial $uperiority either encourages nor discourages them... They're just inherently assholes.
Placating these stupid arrogant fuckers is not significantly more socially beneficial than calling them out, the problem is that doing so in traffic causes problems for the other people on the road.
I prefer to do it when we coincidentally (or perhaps not entirely coincidentally) both arrive at the same parking lot. In my experience, the guys in the lifted one-ton trucks are sitting on a Sears and Roebuck catalog to see over the dash and are disinclined to continue the conflict when away from its safety.
