country today:

1) "free" trade which has destroyed the part of our economy that could employ many of our unemployed and underemployed workers and which has forced young people to invest their time and money in college if they hope someday to be part of the middle class.

2) the Bush era changes in the Bankruptcy Code which, in this recession, have made it much harder for the middle class to discharge debt (especially student loans) and get on with their lives.

Corporations can still discharge onerous debt in bankruptcy, but it is harder for the middle class to do it especially if the debt is related to education

The Bankruptcy Code needs to be changed again to favor the middle class, and we should not enter into any more trade agreements that will result in the export of our jobs and the import of cheap products produced by cheap labor.
