I preface this with a little backround story. I attended college from Sept 1986 until June 1990. During that time our campus gay group, like many, met in secret. My first term at school my roommate, who was pledging a frat, accidently crashed the meeting of the campus gay group which I luckily hadn't attended. In short, I came close to being outed the first months of college. Because of that incident it was quite some time before I decided to join that group. Later, I did wind up coming out after a nasty break up. One of the things I thought of when I was going through that break up and the forced to come out that came with it, was suicide. Clearly, I didn't do that. But it was a scary time and frankly not pleasant.
Laura Ingraham was a college senior in 1987 at Dartmouth College and ran a paper called the Dartmouth Review. While editor she sent a reporter to the Dartmouth gay group who recorded a meeting, printed the transcript, and outed the entire club. She also, for good measure, sent tapes of the meeting to the parents of the people in the group. Let me repeat that, she sent tapes of the meeting to the parents of the members. To this day she hasn't apologized for that conduct though she has altered her view on gay rights. Let me be blunt here, she was the original Ravi (the guy who taped Clementi). She doesn't deserve a post on the Sunday shows. She is a woman whose very presence is an affront to decency. In a sane world, she would carry as much weight as any other hate filled bag of poo. Instead, she is literally being invited into our homes for Sunday breakfast. Count me out, I am on a diet anyway.
