(62,455 posts)I knew Richie Roberts the drummer for Chi Pig through his brothers in school. Richie went to school with Devo. It seemed like all the musicians came from Buchtel or Firestone. The Mothersbaughs parents owned some rental property we all rented at one time or another.
- How much of their persona was them being them, vs. being staged to entertain their audience? I've always wondered about that.
There was always a concept that was adhered to. Their sets were highly planned and rehearsed. I remember seeing Gen Baby in a crib at the Crypt on E. Market in Akron. They were serious about it.
It started as an art project. They were/are smart kind of introverted and thoughtful.
- Were hallucinogenic substances involved? Not specifically or as a part of the scene.
- Was it quickly obvious that they were going to make the big time? Or did it require lots of work and polish? Not so obviously. There were a ton of bands around:
