(62,325 posts)against Glenn Greenwald who was just a blogger at the time. I found it frightening. That there were bids being made to Big Banks to smear a mere blogger. It was pretty chilling.
The exposure of the bid on Glenn Greenwald by HB Gary by Anonymous made many people realize just how dangerous it can be to tell the truth about those who have power in this country, even someone who known to only a small fraction of the population of this country.
But we were wrong again when we thought that once it was exposed, that would be the end of it.
At least for him. Instead we are seeing that either HB Gary eventually got that contract or someone else did.
I used to wonder about people who all said the same things about whoever the target of their hatred happened to be. Why couldn't they speak for themselves? Lol, I had not heard about paid for 'talking points' at that time.
But that's what we are seeing Re Greenwald. The same repetitive six or seven 'talking points' much like what was being proposed in HB Gary's bid on the contract to smear him.
Makes you wonder, how much does a Security Contractor get to think up those few talking points? You know, like 'Greenwald supported the Iraq War'? That one was obviously supposed to turn the Left against him. Pretty stupid, I hope they didn't much for that one. BECAUSE GREENWALD HIMSELF was where they got THAT from! And the Left of course ADMIRED HIM for not sticking to that support once he found out how much they were lying to us! He wrote about in his book, we ALL KNEW.
The standards don't seem to be very high for 'talking points'. Which is good for us since they don't seem to be working very well.
Another one 'Greenwald is a Libertarian, Republican, NOT from the LEFT! Lol, we judge THAT by what issues someone supports and whether they waver from those issues depending on the political climate.
Greenwald is most definitely LEFT, on almost every issue. So there goes another TALKING POINT. I really, really hope none of our tax dollars were used for those talking points. Greenwald btw, has clearly addressed all of them, all over the internet and now that he has such a large audience, partly due to the campaign against him, even MORE people know what is going on.
Why don't they just address the ISSUES he talks about? Why not PROVE HIM WRONG? Well, that was a rhetorical question, no need to answer, we KNOW the answer.
