Actually, urbanization is the real problem, but when deer lose their habitat, they have nowhere to but into peoples yards, where they consume the landscape plants. Or, into the road, where they die horribly when they're hit by cars. Sometimes they take the humans in the car along with them. When the populations get too dense, they starve, and are more susceptible to diseases and parasites. There are no mountain lions, wolves or other top predators to keep them in check, so that falls on hunters.
Yes, feral hogs are a huge problem. And, not just to people. I have seen thousands of acres of good wildlife habitat and swampland that they tore to shreds here in my state alone.
