(81,571 posts)how strikingly gray his hair has turned. He definitely does NOT look like he interrupted a vacation to go back to the office. He looks like he interrupted a long hard day of bending over, wrangling crowds of kids, and pulling weeds in Michelle's White House garden. He looks exhausted. He looks like he REALLY needs an actual day off with a hot bath, some soft music, and a massage. On a heated massage table. I find it such a sad thing - the ridiculous amount of weight he carries every day.
I remember reading about Harry Truman after he got the shocking news that FDR had just died - making him President.
Harry Truman has come to be regarded as one of Americas outstanding national leaders of the twentieth century. In the spring of 1945, however, this decent, simple, impulsive man was all but overwhelmed by the burden of office thrust upon him by Roosevelts death on 12 April. I felt like the moon, the stars and all the planets had fallen on me, he told reporters on the afternoon that he was sworn in. Boys, if you ever pray, pray for me now. One journalist said: Good luck, Mr. President. Truman said: I wish you didnt have to call me that.
