A new Democratic poll released Tuesday places the congressional race between Republican Lee Terry and Democrat Brad Ashford squarely in the “barn burner” camp.

The poll found the two men in a virtual dead heat with less than three months left in the race: Ashford at 46 percent, Terry at 45 percent.

Nine percent of the 432 likely voters surveyed in the Omaha-based 2nd District remained undecided.

The Aug. 14 poll was done by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the national group in charge of helping Democrats get elected to the U.S. House. It was an automated poll, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.
