Vaccinations, while an umbrella term, are made different ways for different types of pathogens. There are live vaccines, inactivated/killed vaccines, inactivated toxin vaccines, and conjugated vaccines.

Having a severe allergy to the vaccine components, being pregnant, and having an acute illness are reasons to not be vaccinated.
